About the role

We are in search of an experienced Japanese speaking IT Project Manager/Project Management Officer (PMO) with a working command of English to join our consultancy team. This role is pivotal in driving successful IT projects for our clients. With deep knowledge of project management methodologies, you will oversee large-scale IT projects, ensuring timely delivery and execution while also mentoring junior members. This position offers a unique opportunity to blend cultural understanding, technical knowledge, and leadership in a dynamic consulting environment.

Main Responsibilities

1. Project Management: Lead the end-to-end management of large IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with client specifications.
2. Client Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring consistent communication, understanding client needs, and maintaining a strong working relationship.
3. Methodology Implementation: Apply the most suitable project management methodologies, from Waterfall to Agile and beyond, tailoring them to the specific requirements of each project.
4. Team Leadership & Mentoring: Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to less experienced team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
5. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and devise contingency plans, ensuring smooth project progression.
6. Reporting: Regularly update stakeholders about project status, milestones, and challenges, ensuring transparency and trust.
7. Resource Allocation: Efficiently manage resources, including budgets, manpower, and tools, optimizing for project success.
8. Continuous Improvement: Seek opportunities to refine and enhance processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency and client satisfaction.

What we expect from you

1. Linguistic Proficiency: Native or fluent Japanese speaking skills paired with a working knowledge of English, ensuring effective communication across multicultural teams and clientele.
2. Extensive Experience: A minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in managing large-scale IT projects, showcasing your ability to handle complexity and deliver results.
3. Educational Credentials: A bachelor’s degree in IT, Business, Management, or a related field. Certifications in Project Management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) will be viewed favorably.
4. Technical Savvy: Familiarity with IT tools, platforms, and best practices, ensuring that projects are managed using the latest and most effective tools.
5. Deep Understanding of Methodologies: Mastery of a range of project management methodologies, allowing for flexibility and customization based on each project’s needs.
6. Mentorship Abilities: Proven track record in mentoring, guiding, and uplifting junior team members, fostering a nurturing and growth-centric environment.
7. Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to anticipate challenges, craft solutions, and make informed decisions under pressure.
8. Cultural Sensitivity: An understanding of both Japanese and Western business practices, ensuring seamless integration and communication in diverse settings.
